David After Dentist

Hello again!

I would just like to draw your attention to a video that I have created concerning the popular “David After Dentist” video. While I think it was disrespectful and insensitive to film the child in this state, I think it even more appalling that the parents of the child have in fact been able to sell “David After Dentist” -themed t-shirts on the internet. Not only is it unethical to humiliate a child -someone who is vulnerable and dependent, but it is shockin that his parents would exploit them for financial gain.

Any thoughts?

You guys bring up a viewpoint that’s rarely thought of — the stance of the humiliated. It makes me sad that how rare that society empathizes with the mistreated… and it’s a shock realization that the parents are profiting off of it, oblivious to their child’s pain, not realizing what this could mean for his future.

I completely agree with your point of view; it’s simply mind-boggling to me that a parent would even let their child be put into that kind of situation, let alone put them in that situation themselves. Parents are supposed to protect their children, physically and mentally, and that definitely includes humiliation and exploitation. What will this kid think when he grows older and watches this video of himself? What will he think of his parents behaviour, and if/how will it affect their relationship? Somehow this whole thing just doesn’t sit right with me, at all; and the t-shirt selling is the last straw. These people have some serious parenting issues to deal with, in my opinion…
